Winter CSAs
Brookfield Farm
A proper share distributed every other week, December through March: self serve and out of a root cellar — in Western Mass. About 30 lbs of storage crops per distribution. $125.
Drumlin Farm
A proper CSA, wherein you are asked to work as part of your shareholder agreement. Winter shares include greens, onions and all the usual suspects. Full Share - $400; Half Share - $200. If you can’t fulfill work requirements, you can pay more: $100 for a full share, $50 for half. (Sold out for 2009.)
Enterprise Farm
This share includes a lot of storage crops from Massachusetts-based farms, but it also draws from farms along the East Coast: tomatoes, green beans, lettuce — and some Florida citrus, for example. It’s 95 percent organic. Runs December-May. You can sign up anytime and they’ll pro-rate your cost. But for the full winter season, a large share goes for $950: small $700. Pickup in multiple locations. MetroPedalPower delivery available.
Farmer Dave’s
This is an extended share for the regular CSA season, running through November and the first week of December. The final two shares will be larger holiday shares. Farmer Dave’s asks shareholders to sign up for the winter share at the time of regular registration. Expect your typical storage veggies for an extra $200 on the regular share cost.
Red Fire Farm’s Deep Winter CSA
Dropoffs every two weeks in January, February and March: Late winter greens, storage crops, plus locally-produced stuff like Real Pickles. $240. (Egg shares available too: $35 per dozen/each distribution.) Pickup in Somerville. MetroPedalPower delivery available.
Shared Harvest CSA

Shares come in two- and three-month options ($240/$160 respectively), with a monthly distribution, Oct-Dec. Lots of storage crops, some fresh stuff too. This is organized by Gretta Anderson, she of the former Belmont CSA. Contact her to sign up: grettaanderson[at]earthlink.net. Pickup in Lexington only.
Stillman’s
Three Saturday pickups: Two in November, one in December: storage crops, fresh stuff too. $150, limited to 100 members. Essentially an extension of the Stillman’s regular season CSA. Jamaica Plain pickup only.
